COMMUNITY FUNDED PROJECTS
The projects listed below are funded as part of a local investment in SIMPL.
MULTIMODAL MOBILITY PROJECTS
Provides bicycle and pedestrian safe access between Downtown, The Railyards and the River District.
RIVER DISTRICT PARK
This project will develop the River District Park and add improvements to existing recreational areas in the River District. The River District Park will add a new basketball court and related child-centered sports located near the Mirasol housing development.
SmaRT Ride Microtransit
Micro-transit (SmaRT Ride) will give residents access to more point-to-point transportation over shorter distances that fixed routes may not reach or serve as effectively. It will also provide better connectivity between the lower density neighborhoods in East Sacramento and medical facilities.
MIRASOL VILLAGE CITY PARK
The River District Park will provide a new park within the Mirasol Village community. It will provide residents and those outside of the project area another outdoor space to connect and enjoy.
DOWNTOWN RIVERFRONT STREETCAR PROJECT
The Streetcar project will provide streetcar routes across the southern portion of the project area, providing another transit option and increase connectivity with the rest of the city.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE PROGRAM
The electric vehicle program will increase connectivity by providing new electric cars through a car-share program and add charging stations to the River District.
LOW INCOME WEATHERIZATION
SMUD will be providing low income home weatherization for a number of existing households within the project area, increasing residents’ comfort and improve their homes' energy efficiency.
