Project: HEALTH AND WELL BEING 

Mirasol Village Community Garden

This project will develop, construct and operate a 25,000 square feet community garden at the Mirasol Village. The garden will include orchard trees as well as garden plots for residents and community members to grow their own produce. Community engagement partner, Alchemist Community Development Corporation, will provide outreach and organize resident participation in community events and activities held in the garden. The City of Sacramento will be responsible for all maintenance of the garden upon completion of the garden.

The environmental improvements in this project will encourage an increase in healthy behaviors, such as increase in walking, while helping to build neighborhood and social attachments. Adding to that, the Mirasol Community Garden will provide opportunities for residents to grow nutritious food.
